About
The department, a unit of MASS College of Arts & Science, was established in the year 2005. Computer Science is a wide field which encompasses all features of computers, including the design and application of both hardware and software. Career opportunities are various and are found in computer design, manufacturing, development, testing, transportation, communications, research, education and management. The Department also started a three year Post- Graduate Program in M.C.A from the year 2008. In 2014, the department has been recognized as Research Centre, by Bharathidasan University to offer Ph.D., Program with the objectives of inspiring and promoting ethical Research in Computer Studies. The Department has the state-of-art facilities for various laboratories such as Programming lab, Communication lab, Research lab, a well equipped seminar hall with LCD Projector, Wi-Fi enabled campus to support e-learning..

The Department of Computer Science hunt for functioning through compassion with competence and novelty to attain outstanding standards of quality education by keeping pace with rapidly changing technologies and build manpower of international standards with potential of accepting innovative challenges.
Objective
The programs offered by the department discloses eminence education for the students especially the poor, rural, the needy and the underprivileged by providing new career opportunity in IT sector, educational, banking and Government.
Infrastructure
The Department has spacious class rooms, well furnished Laboratories with good ventilation and lighting facilities. All Laboratories such as Programming, Communication, Research laboratories are equipped with vital equipments to congregate the requirements of the curriculum. It has computing lab with 100 workstations, 2 servers and 2 printers with all the required software and peripherals as per Bharathidasan University syllabus. The department offers free high-speed Internet facility through BSNL – 10Mbps RF connectivity. The labs also have a Portable Projector facility to demonstrate the lab exercises easily.
